Every clinic that markets to international patients publishes a headline number. Very few explain what sits behind it. The number that matters is not the price per veneer — it is the price of the finished result, including the preparatory treatment your mouth actually needs, the laboratory that layers the ceramic, and the follow-up after you fly home.

What it does not include
This is where most "too good to be true" quotes fall apart. Veneers are bonded to teeth and gums that must be healthy first. If they are not, the preparatory treatment is a separate cost — and skipping it is the single most common reason veneer work fails within a few years.

Why cheap veneers get expensive
The lowest quotes in Colombia usually mean one of three things: the ceramic is a monolithic milled block rather than hand-layered lithium disilicate, the teeth are aggressively reduced so a thick, opaque restoration can be seated quickly, or the case is delivered in two or three days with no mock-up and no occlusal analysis.
Enamel is the only surface that bonds predictably for decades. Once it has been ground away, no ceramic can give it back.
A veneer bonded to enamel behaves like part of the tooth. A veneer bonded to exposed dentine is a weaker joint, more prone to sensitivity, marginal staining and debonding. The difference does not show in the photograph taken on the day you fly home — it shows five years later, when the replacement is a crown and the crown eventually becomes a root canal.
How to compare two quotes properly
- Which ceramic, by brand? (Ask for "IPS e.max" in writing, not "porcelain".)
- Hand-layered by a ceramist, or milled monolithic?
- How much enamel will be removed, in millimetres?

Why are veneers so much cheaper in Colombia?
Overheads, salaries, laboratory fees and malpractice insurance are a fraction of United States levels, and Colombian dentists are not paid through insurance networks. The materials are identical — IPS e.max is made by Ivoclar Vivadent in Liechtenstein and costs the same everywhere.
Is there a hidden cost after I go home?
