What are IPS e.max porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made ceramic shells bonded to the front surface of your teeth. They correct discolouration, chips, gaps, worn edges and minor misalignment, producing a brighter and more harmonious smile without orthodontics.

Dr. Cristhian Figueroa works exclusively with lithium disilicate (IPS e.max Ivoclar Vivadent) for ceramic veneers. Its translucency mimics the optical behaviour of natural enamel, and its strength allows extremely thin restorations — which is exactly what makes conservative preparation possible.

Every case is planned digitally: clinical photography, digital smile design, intraoral records, an in-mouth mock-up you approve, and CAD/CAM-assisted laboratory work finished by hand.

The conservative difference

Many veneer clinics grind healthy teeth down to pegs so thick restorations can be fitted fast. It is quick, irreversible and biologically expensive: the more enamel you lose, the higher the long-term risk of sensitivity, root canal treatment and fracture.

Dr. Figueroa graduated Cum Laude from Universidad Santo Tomás and follows biomimetic protocols: preparation of 0.3 to 0.7 mm under magnification — often none at all — adhesive bonding under rubber-dam isolation, and zero unnecessary biological sacrifice. Where a crown would be the conventional answer, a veneer, inlay or onlay is usually the conservative one.

More on the philosophy on the biomimetic rehabilitation page (in Spanish).

Porcelain or composite?

IPS e.max porcelain

  • • 15 – 20 years of service life
  • • Does not stain with coffee, wine or tobacco
  • • Hand-layered in the laboratory
  • • Maximum colour stability and translucency
  • • Ideal for full smile transformations

Composite resin veneers

  • • 4 – 7 years with periodic polishing
  • • Additive and fully reversible — no drilling
  • • Completed chairside in fewer visits
  • • More accessible investment
  • • Ideal for diastemas and targeted changes

We do not use zirconia for veneers: it lacks the translucency that makes a front tooth look alive. Both arches can be combined — porcelain where aesthetics lead, composite where a reversible additive approach is enough.

Your journey, step by step

  1. Step 1 — Virtual assessment before you fly

Send guided photos of your smile through WhatsApp. Dr. Figueroa reviews clinical feasibility, conservative alternatives and a realistic timeline in English before you book anything.

  2. Step 2 — VIP pick-up at BGA airport

We collect you at Palonegro (BGA) airport and take you to your hotel in Cabecera del Llano, five minutes from the practice.

  3. Step 3 — Digital planning and mock-up (day 1)

Clinical photography, digital smile design and a trial mock-up placed in your mouth. You see and approve the shape before a single tooth is touched.

  4. Step 4 — Minimal preparation and laboratory work

Preparation under magnification following biomimetic protocols — 0.3 to 0.7 mm, often prep-less. Master ceramists hand-layer your IPS e.max veneers.

  5. Step 5 — Try-in and adhesive bonding

Shade try-in, rubber-dam isolation, adhesive cementation and occlusal equilibration. Final photographs and a protective night guard when indicated.

  6. Step 6 — Safe return and remote follow-up

We drive you back to the airport with your full digital records. Remote monitoring by WhatsApp with review checkpoints at one, six and twelve months.
